Once your listing is live, verified buyers can submit an offer on your property to tempt you to sell. All buyers must verify their identity with a government ID such as a passport or driver’s licence before submitting an offer on your home.
You will receive an email notification letting you know that someone is interested in your property. To access the full details of the offer, simply log into your Ostrich account and navigate to 'Seller' mode. From here you can mange your listing and scrolling down will allow you to view your offers.
Responding to an offer
Offers should be considered non-binding and indicative of the buyer's level of interest in your property. Offers made through Ostrich include an indicative price and details of the buyer's funding position. Initial offers made through Ostrich are non-binding.
You can let the buyer know what you think of the offer in a few clicks, by choosing one of the following options:
- 'I'm interested in arranging a viewing' - We’ll ask you to provide your availability, which will be shared directly with the buyer so they can book a viewing.
- 'I'm looking for a higher price' - We'll tell the buyer that the current offer is below your expectations. If you'd like to price that you'd start to entertain offers, then please provide this information when prompted, so that we can share it with the interested buyer. Buyers can resubmit a new offer if they wish to re-engage you.
- 'It's not the right time' - We'll tell the buyer that you're not ready to sell right now. If you have an approximate timeline for when you'd consider entertaining offers, let us know and we can share this with the buyer. Many buyers are willing to wait for the right property.
Alternatively, you can speak to us to discuss the indicative offer you've received in more detail. Our property team are here to help.
Arranging a viewing
If you'd like to invite a buyer to view your property, we'll ask you to set your availability, which will be shared directly with them.
When the buyer selects a suitable time, you’ll receive a viewing confirmation email. Viewing details can also be found in your Ostrich account.
You’ll receive a reminder email and text the day before.
If you need to reschedule or cancel a viewing at any time, please email the Ostrich team at viewings@ostrich.co.uk.
After the viewing
After the viewing, the Ostrich team will follow up with the buyer to get their feedback, and see if they're interested in scheduling another visit or making a formal offer.
Just like when you sell your home on the open market, you are free to negotiate with the interested party. Our team are available throughout to assist with negotiations and the sale process. We’ll be there every step of the way to help you complete the sale. We can help:
- Qualify buyers
- Get buyer feedback
- Verify proof of funds
- Negotiate price
- Prepare the heads of terms
- Connect solicitors
- Manage the ongoing chain
Managing your Price Guide
It is important that you receive offers that match your expectations. You can update your property's Price Guide at any time by managing your listing.
If you would like us to automatically reject offers below a certain price, you can also set an Auto Reject Offer Level. For example, reject all offers 10% below your Price Guide.
