Listing your home
- When will I receive my John Lewis gift card?
If you own your home and list with Ostrich, you’ll get a £250 John Lewis digital gift card when your listing goes live. After your photography appointment, we’ll send a private preview of your listing for you to review and provide feedback on.
- How Ostrich works for homeowners
We created Ostrich for homeowners like you, those who aren’t in a rush to sell but know they’ll want to move. This guide sets out how Ostrich works and what makes our approach different.
- When is a good time to list on Ostrich?
Ostrich is for homeowners considering selling in the next few years. To get the most value, we recommend that you list in the 12 months before you plan to sell.
- What to expect on the day of your photography appointment
On the day of your appointment, a member of the Ostrich photography team will arrive at the agreed time to take pictures of your home and collect measurements to prepare a floor plan.
- Getting your home ready to be photographed
On the day of your appointment, our photographer will arrive to photograph your home and measure it to prepare a floor plan. Depending on the size of your property, we typically require 45 - 90 minutes to capture everything we need.
- What happens during my EPC assessment?
When your Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) assessment takes place, one of our in-house EPC assessors will visit your home to carry out a short survey. The assessment helps determine how energy-efficient your property is and gives it a rating from A (most efficient) to G (least efficient).
- What do you charge to list on Ostrich?
It is free to list on Ostrich. We won't charge you for photography, producing a floor plan or anything else.
- How will Ostrich do my valuation?
We believe a good valuation should be grounded in evidence, not guesswork. This guide explains what we look at, what data we use, and how you stay in control of your price guide.
- Steps to get your Ostrich listing live
Within seven days of your photography appointment, we’ll send you a private preview of your listing. From there, just a few final steps are needed before your home goes live!
- Will my home appear on property portals?
Ostrich is a private platform which means your home won’t appear on portals such as Rightmove, Zoopla or OnTheMarket. Only registered buyers can access your Ostrich listing.
- How long does it take to sell on Ostrich?
There’s no fixed timeline on Ostrich, because every owner’s plans are different. Some are ready to move soon and open to strong offers now. Others are just getting a feel for the market and may not be ready to sell for a year or more.
- Why is Ostrich different from a traditional estate agent?
Selling your home should fit around your life, not the other way around. Ostrich takes the pressure out of selling, so you can move at your own pace and on your own terms.
