When someone’s interested in your home, they can request a viewing. Each time you receive a viewing request, we’ll notify you by email. You can also view all your requests in the Buyers section of your Seller dashboard. Just make sure you Switch to seller when you log in.
Before they can send you a viewing request, buyers must verify their identity and share a few key details:
- What they love about your property – A personal message about what’s drawn them to your home
- Their position as a buyer – How they’ll fund the purchase and whether they’re in a chain
- An indicative offer – A non-binding offer to give you a sense of what they might be willing to pay
You’ll see all of this as part of their viewing request, so you have a clear picture of who’s interested and whether it feels like a good match.
Note: Buyers will see your Sale Timeline before they request a viewing, so if you’re not selling anytime soon, they’ll know that upfront.
Once you’ve reviewed the request, you can choose one of the following options:
- Yes, let’s arrange a viewing!
- Yes, but I’m looking for a higher price
- Yes, but I’d like to align on timelines first
- No, I’m not interested
Each option lets you guide the conversation based on what works best for you.
Yes, let’s arrange a viewing!
If everything looks good, you can share your availability for viewings. After that, you’ll have the option to send the buyer a message with any extra context you’d like them to know before they visit. When the buyer chooses a time, you’ll receive a viewing confirmation email with all the details.
Yes, but I’m looking for a higher price
If the offer is too low, you can let the buyer know what kind of price you’re looking for. They can easily update their indicative offer or send you a message with more information.
Yes, but I’d like to align on timelines
If you need to share more about your timings before moving forward, this gives you the chance to make sure the buyer’s schedule aligns with yours and avoid any surprises later on.
No, I’m not interested
If now’s not the right time or the buyer isn’t a fit, that’s totally fine. You can leave a short note to explain your decision, but it’s completely optional. If anything changes later, you’ll be able to reach back out and invite them to view.
You’re always in control. There’s no pressure to arrange viewings - it’s up to you how you’d like to move forward with a request. If you do organise viewings, you’ll receive updates via email and in your Ostrich account. For more details you can check out our help guides on arranging viewings and cancelling or rescheduling them.
